Raising mixed children, a transformed world, and attitudes towards mixed Koreans
The subjects covered in our last few episodes since we last had a chance to check in and write you a newsletter!
Meaty topics we hear you thinking, and you’d be right. We spoke to Farzana Nayani author or ‘Raising Multiracial Children’ about THE TALK every parent has to have with a child of colour, not and why it’s important that parents of white children have a parallel version of this conversation as early as possible that essentially explains why their friends who are not white are having to have THE TALK in the first place.
We spoke to Mikaela Loach about tackling social injustice and the climate crisis and how they are essentially the same thing.
Nicole finally managed to sit down with our friends at The Halfie Project to discuss changing attitudes to mixed Koreans and we laughed a lot with our friend singer songwriter BEKA. She recently wrote the soundtrack for a show called Trying which charts the story of a family who adopt. Beka shares generously abut her own family’s connection to adoption and we talk about why so many mixed children ended up in care.
A big thank you to our sis BEKA who not only came into the pod but she also introduced us for our book launch party this month. That’s right - THE HALF OF IT is officially out and in the world. Get your copy here. Or in Waterstones of course. :)
A few snaps of our book party. So much love in the room. We are so grateful. 🙏🏽
